The Black Humanity Now Street Mural and Memorial Project came is a grassroots effort to bring attention to the pandemic of police brutality against black people, and to honor the lives lost as a result of hundreds of years of trauma lived by black people in America.
A community wide initiative being led by Scott Terry, owner of Mahogany Gallery, and citizens from all walks of life throughout Racine County.
The phases of the project include:
1. Street mural in front of the Racine County Courthouse and Racine County Jail.
2. Creation of a permanent, physical historical and arts center dedicated to the preservation of local black history, arts and culture.
3. Advocacy for Black Humanity Now in all aspects of life. From education to employment, access to entrepreneurial capital to police brutality. We will continue to speak loud and work collaboratively against all things that are counter to the belief of Black Humanity Now.
