You sense what people call passion when you are around Clayton Singleton. This Virginia resident’s blend of verbal and visual art inspires, motivates, and educates. He holds a BA in art from Virginia Wesleyan University and an M.Ed. from Regent University.
He was a member of the Norfolk Arts Commission, d’ART Center Board of Directors, and is currently a board member of The Hermitage Museum and Gardens. singleton has been published in The Virginian Pilot, Distinction Magazine, Time magazine and The New York Times. Singleton has been an artist in residence at the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts.
Clayton has been included in group exhibitions at The Chrysler Museum of Art, Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, The Barry Art Museum, as well as The Hermitage Museum and Gardens.
He has painted public murals, won numerous awards, juried, and curated several solo and group
exhibitions. His artwork comprises a belonging layer, a quilting layer, a flourishing layer, an authentic layer, and a portrait/ figure layer.
