EMERGE Guidelines for Awardees

This document outlines the policies and expected practices of artists. This document was presented at the orientation.

Awardee Responsibilities

  • Create new creative work(s) during the 10-week fellowship period.

  • Submit a Progress Journal on the last day of the fellowship period.

  • Attend required orientation meetings as assigned; meet assigned mentor(s) and exchange contact information to enable the scheduling of 4 meetings with your mentor during the fellowship period.

  • Within the first 1 week of your fellowship period, contact your assigned mentor and confirm an agreed-to schedule for your 3 required meeting sessions. Again, awardees must record the dates and times of their scheduled mentor meetings in their Progress Journal using the form provided.

  • Meet with an assigned mentor 4 times within the 10-week fellowship period to get feedback and advice on the development of your project(s). Each meeting should occur after you’ve made new progress in your creative project(s).

  • Attend panel discussion where mentors, as a group, share how they applied for professional opportunities and what helped them get their careers off the ground.

  • This will be followed by Q & A with awardees.

  • Exhibit/perform your works at the closing exhibition.

  • Participate in one of the community outreach events.
Contact Lisa Marie Barber at BarberL@uwp.edu to let her know what events you’d like to partcipate in and what your participation will entail.
You are expected to be in contact with the event organizers, be present for rehearsals (if required), be professional in your interactions, and maintain the commitment.
